Duty Lawyer Service
The Hong Kong Duty Lawyer Service (DLS) is a government program that provides quasi-free legal assistance to individuals who find themselves accused in criminal cases at the Magistrates’ Court level.
The Duty Lawyer Service is operated by the Hong Kong Department of Justice in collaboration with the Hong Kong Bar Association and the Hong Kong Law Society.
The service is provided by qualified and experienced lawyers, who offer legal assistance. Lawyers are assigned for regular duty in the courts. They evaluate cases, provide legal advice and represent accused persons in court to ensure fair and equitable representation.
Romain Pierre Levaire is a member of the Duty Lawyer Service panel, and represents defendants at Magistrates Court level on behalf of the Duty Lawyer Service . He is also registered with the specific CAT (Convention Against Torture) panel and represents asylum seekers in specific procedures relating to this situation.
